I'm Sorry Shaq
As I was watching game three of the Finals tonight (Go Pistons) It seemed all to familar, Yet the Pistons and Spurs have never played in the finals. Then it hit me, since I started watching Basketball back in '87' I have seen eather the Pistons or the Spurs in the Finals 7 times. WIth 30 teams, 7 of the past 19 years the Pistons or the Spurs have been in the Finals. Not to mention the times they've been in the Conference Finals. So I started thinking who else Has been there:
1987 L.A. and Boston, Winner: L.A.
1988 L.A. and Detroit, Winner: L.A.
1989 L.A. and Detroit, Winner: Detroit
1990 Portland and Detroit, Winner: Detroit
1991 L.A. and Chicago, Winner: Chicago
1992 Portland and Chicago, Winner: Chicago
1993 Phoenix and Chicago, Winner: Chicago
1994 Houston and New York, Winner: Houston
1995 Houston and Orlando, Winner: Houston
1996 Seattle and Chicago, Winner: Chicago
1997 Utah and Chicago, Winner: Chicago
1998 Utah and Chicago, Winner: Chicago
1999 San Antonio and New York, Winner: San Antonio
2000 L.A. and Indiana, Winner: L.A.
2001 L.A. and Philadelphia, Winner: L.A.
2002 L.A. and New Jersey, Winner: L.A.
2003 San Antonio and New Jersey, Winner San Antonio
2004 L.A. and Detroit, Winner: Detroit
2005 San Antiono and Detroit
19 years, 18 Championships, 5 Championship teams
And with San Antiono and Detroit still strong, Chicago and Houston back in the running, and the greatest coach of all time comming back to the Lakers, I'm not so sure any team but these 5 will win anything in the next 10 years.
By the way who has been the Greatest team the last 18 years
#1 Chicago - 6 Championships
#2 L.A. - 5 Championships
#3 Detroit - 3 Championships
#4 San Antiono - 2 Championships (But appearing in the Finals this year)
#5 Houston - 2 Championships
#6 Portland, Utah, and New Jersey, and New York each appeared in the Finals 2 times
#7 Boston, Phoenix, Orlando, Seattle, Indiana, Philadelphia each appeared once
